Daimler offers Dynamic Insurance to reduce rates based on safety data

Oct. 25, 2022
Daimler Truck Financial Services is offering a new technology platform allowing carriers to receive monthly insurance premium discounts depending on how telematics data measures their drivers' safety.

Daimler Truck Financial Services is offering a telematics-based solution, Dynamic Insurance, to allow fleets to receive reduced insurance rates based on safety data. Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS) has partnered with High Definition Vehicle Insurance (HDVI) for the Dynamic Insurance offering exclusively for commercial fleet operators.

Dynamic Insurance starts with a base rate. Using real-time telematics data from ELDs and dash cameras, users can earn discounts each month based on safety improvements. The service lets fleets set safety goals and benchmark metrics. It also offers tools such as a fleet portal, HDVI Fleet Services insights, and dashboards that guide fleets toward safe driving and lower premiums.

Dynamic Insurance is available in 17 states and pending in Oregon, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

“Daimler Truck Financial Services works closely with our customers to understand their challenges and goals, and we are committed to providing innovative products and services to help enhance the success of their businesses and improve their bottom lines,” said Tobias Waldeck, VP of sales and marketing, DTFS. “As a partner to the largest truck manufacturer on the continent, Daimler Truck North America, we are highly attuned to the small-to-medium fleet market, which has been particularly challenged by insurance premium hikes and more stringent underwriting. Dynamic Insurance by DTFS helps them to mitigate these challenges and keep their fleet, and the world, moving safely. It brings technology and insurance together to help fleets reduce both their risk and their insurance premiums.”

Dynamic Insurance marks the second such product from DTFS, joining its Dynamic Lease product in offerings tailored to customers based on telematics data.
