The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Navistar and Maxi-Metal.
Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.
Navistar models' driver's seat bolt not properly attached
Navistar Inc. is recalling certain 2024 International HV and International MV trucks. The driver's seat belt tether bolt may not be properly seated in the anchor, causing a bind at the anchor point. An improperly anchored seat belt tether may not restrain an occupant as intended, increasing their risk of injury during a crash. This recall potentially affects 297 vehicles.
Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belts as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on March 18. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24501.
Maxi-metal models may experience overloaded electrical circuits
Maxi-Metal, Inc. is recalling certain 2020-2023 Maxi/Freightliner and Maxi/Kenworth trucks equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits. Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire. This recall potentially affects 19 vehicles.
Maxi-Metal will work with Weldon to update the firmware. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Maxi-Metal customer service at 418-228-6637.
