Road Systems (RSI), a trailer manufacturer and subsidiary of Con-way Inc., has been awarded the 2011 Plant Safety Award from the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Assn. This is the third time Road Systems has won the award.
“Achieving superior safety performance and operational excellence requires close interaction and informative guidance,” said Lynn Reinbolt, president, RSI. “For that reason, we coach our employees through in-house behavioral-based education. Being recognized by TTMA for a third time is a testament to the continued success of this program and the employees who drive it.”
RSI won in the “C” category for plants with 300,000 man-hours and under.
To be considered for the award, RSI provided numerical data in seven areas: deaths, total lost workday cases, total cases with job transfer or restriction, days away from work, days of job transfer or job restriction, total number of other recordable cases and total cases (of injuries).
Under the TTMA Plant Safety program, award winners are selected from member companies’ year-long occupational injury data recorded in accordance with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) record-keeping requirements.
“RSI is known for its tireless commitment to safety,” said Jeff Sims, president, Truck Trailer Manufacturers Assn. “For the second consecutive year, it is a pleasure to honor the plant most deserving of this award and the hardworking employees behind that crucial, consistent dedication.”
