TCA to hold second Weight Loss Showdown

July 9, 2012

After the successful conclusion to its first Trucking’s Weight Loss Showdown contest, the Truckload Carriers Assn. (TCA) has announced a second competition slated for this fall. Applications will be accepted through July 31, 2012. The form can be found at www.TruckingsWeightLossShowdown.com.

The Showdown brings together teams of drivers and staff from TCA-member truckload carriers to determine which individual and which company can achieve the greatest percentages of weight loss. Over the course of 10 weeks, participants follow the Lean for Life On-the-Road program offered by the Lindora Clinic.

Tailored to the unique trucking lifestyle, this program incorporates a sensible eating plan. Participants receive the resources and education they need not only to drop pounds now, but also to keep the weight from returning later on.

According to TCA, 90% of the participants completed the first program, losing a total of 3,022 lbs.

Companies that are selected to participate in the 2nd North American Battle of Trucking’s Weight Loss Showdown will be announced on Aug. 3, 2012. The actual competition will begin Monday, Sept. 17, during National Truck Driver Appreciation and Wellness Week. The company and individual winners will be honored in January of 2013 at TCA’s Recruitment & Retention Conference in Nashville, TN.
