Trucker Charity Christmas Group seeks donations, nominations of truckers in need

Dec. 5, 2012

The 5th Annual Trucker Charity Christmas Group is accepting donations and nominations for trucking families in need during the holiday season.

Since the all-volunteer Christmas Group was formed in 2008, over $37,000 has been raised and distributed to 59 needy trucking families in the U.S. and Canada. The Trucker Charity raises money through donations by fellow truck drivers and trucking-related vendors and businesses.

After the success of the first Christmas fund drive in 2008, group member Lance Wood founded Trucker Charity Inc., a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that also helps truck drivers all year long.

The focus of the group is unique since the fund is used to assist only trucking families. Applicants must be truck drivers to qualify for assistance.

The minimum cash allotment given to each family is $500. Nominations for needy trucking families will be accepted through Dec. 19.
