• Southern California storm to bring traffic woes, closures

    Feb. 19, 2013

Traffic throughout Southern California could be snarled today as a winter storm bringing rain, wind and snow hits the region.

Most areas will see about one-tenth to a half an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service and a winter storm watch will be in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning for the Ventura County mountains and Los Angeles County mountains.

There are also winter storm warnings for the Riverside County and San Berardino County mountains.

The snow level could fall as low as 1,500 ft., and icy roadways could force the closure of Interstate 5 through the Grapevine, according to KTLA News.

The storm might also impact Highway 14 from Soledad Canyon, Highway 33 in the Ventura mountains and Highway 138 through the Antelope Valley.

The L.A. County Public Works Department said it planned closures for roads entering the Angeles National Forest starting at 3 a.m. Tuesday. The closures will affect the Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway and Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Vogel Flats. In addition, Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road will be closed from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway.
