Webinar to focus on trucking post CSA

July 23, 2013

The Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program has been around for two years but carriers still have questions on what CSA does and does not do, according to the Truckload Carriers Assn. To help answer the question “CSA After 2 Years: What Have We Learned,” TCA will host a webinar on Thursday, Aug. 8 from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET.

In the webinar — moderated by Dave Heller, TCA director of safety and policy — fleet participants will learn why a good CSA score may not be good enough to make you a shipper’s top choice, what the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) recently learned about the accuracy of Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category (BASIC) scores and violations as tools for predicting crash risk, which factors actually pose the greatest risks, and what carriers are doing to mitigate them.

Other topics will include:

  • How to respond to inquiries about scores from shippers.
  • The difference between compliance and safety.
  • The importance of communication between the executive and safety teams.
  • What CSA does and does not do.

   Presenters for the webinar include:

  • Robert D. Moseley, Esq., attorney and chair, Transportation Group, Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP
  • Daniel Murray, vice president, research, ATRI
  • Jerry W. Waddell, safety director, Cargo Transporters, Inc.

Fees for participation for TCA members are $169 for access to the live event only and $248 for additional access to the recorded program for one year after the event. Fees for non-members are $219 for access to the live event only and $328 for additional access to the recorded program for one year after the August 8 program.
