Recall Roundup: Safety notices issued for Freightliner, Western Star

NHTSA’s latest safety notices feature tire damage.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Daimler Truck North America.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Freightliner & Western Star models may have tire damage

Daimler Truck North America is recalling certain 2023-2024 Freightliner 108SD, 114SD, Business Class M2, Cascadia, 2024 Western Star 57X, and 2023 Freightliner 122SD vehicles. The steer axle wheel flanges may crack and cause damage to the tires. Damaged tires can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the crash risk.

This recall potentially affects 29,092 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 2. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL999.
