Construction on St. Louis Interstate 64 will close highway section this weekend

Feb. 1, 2013

The Missouri Dept. of Transportation will close a stretch of Highway 40 (Interstate 64) to traffic in order to tear down old bridges at Newstead and Taylor avenues beginning Saturday, Feb. 2, and through the weekend. The highway is scheduled to reopen for the morning commute on Monday, Feb. 4.

MoDOT officials said motorists will encounter three narrow lanes in each direction between Sarah and Kingshighway. Eastbound motorists will lose the exit-only lane that carries cars to the Vandeventer off-ramp. Westbound travelers will lose the Vandeventer on-ramp. The narrow lanes will be in place throughout this year and into 2014. Some of those lanes will be closed on weekends.
