Florida Highway Patrol seeks help finding hit-and-run trucker

Aug. 21, 2013

The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking help locating a flatbed semitrailer truck carrying an industrial crane that struck an overpass Tuesday morning on Interstate 275 before the driver sped away.

The accident caused significant structural damage to the Kennedy Boulevard overpass at the Howard Frankland Bridge. A car that was driving direct behind the semi was also damaged, according to a Tampa Bay Times report.

No one was injured in the 9:22 a.m. accident. The truck was traveling south on the interstate, troopers said. The truck’s driver continued onto the Howard Frankland Bridge and did not stop. Troopers were trying Tuesday to determine the driver’s identity.

Witnesses to the crash are asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at (813) 631-4020.
