Mack, Michelin to sponsor Share the Road in 2013

Oct. 9, 2012

Las Vegas. Mack Trucks will continue its sponsorship of the American Trucking Assns. (ATA) Share the Road program for 2013. Also onboard as a sponsor is Michelin Americas Truck Tires.

The announcement was made during ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition here.

“Mack Trucks is dedicated to making America’s roadways as safe as possible, and we consider the Share the Road program to be a vital partner in that effort,” said John Walsh, Mack vice president of marketing. “The professional drivers involved in the program educate millions of Americans about safe driving practices when sharing the highway with commercial vehicles. We also want to recognize all of the fleets that support the participation of their drivers in Share the Road. The life-saving messages they deliver are critical to highway safety.”

Mack will supply a SmartWay-certified Pinnacle axle back model with a Mack mDrive automated manual transmission. The vehicle will be powered by a 13L, 505 hp. Mack MP8 engine producing 1,760 lbs.-ft. of torque with ClearTech SCR technology.

The Share the Road program is designed to teach car drivers how to drive safely around large trucks. Professional truck drivers educate people about potential blind spots, safe following distances, truck stopping distances and other important topics.

The 70-in. high-rise Pinnacle sleeper also features Mack Road Stability Advantage by Bendix with Adaptive Cruise Control, which helps the driver avoid potential collisions by integrating throttle, engine brake and foundation brakes into the cruise control function.
