Gallagher Bassett Services (GB) has launched its GB Transportation Major Case Unit (MCU), a claims handling center within the GB Transportation integrated practice group. The unit was established to focus solely on the most severe, complex and high exposure claims.

“The transportation industry is facing many challenges, including the increasing rate of adverse litigation, inflated medical costs, plaintiffs being quicker to file – to name only a few,” said Michael Hessling, GB’s CEO in North America. “To help manage these complex issues, GB has established the MCU to provide additional expertise and specialized focus on unique transportation exposures. The MCU is one example of a tailored liability solution our GB Transportation team has created and implemented to help our clients more easily reduce their total cost of risk.”

“The MCU is staffed by expert and tenured resolution managers with a singular focus on driving superior outcomes on these high severity, catastrophic transportation claims,” commented Robert Blasio, managing director of GB Specialty. “We are fortunate to have Keith Dunlap, senior vice president of Transportation Practice, who has more than 40 years of experience in the transportation claims business, leading the team. The MCU team reduces the cost of defense and losses, ultimately driving savings for clients’ auto liability portfolios.”

In addition to Dunlap, GB’s Transportation Practice leaders include Lori Ilgenfritz, account principal, Jim Martin, MCU lead, and April Brackett, vice president of industry marketing. According to GB, these leaders will drive industry-specific solutions and best practices for GB’s trucking and transportation clients: Large corporate fleets, insurance carriers, captives and program administrators, who specialize in transportation risks.
