A small fire at Daimler Trucks North America’s (DTNA) Gastonia, NC, plant overnight caused no major damage to the facility or the production equipment.
WBTV reports the fire was reported just after midnight and caused approximately $100,000 worth of damage.
Dave Giroux, DTNA’s director, public relations & corporate communications, told Fleet Owner that the first was quickly contained by the Gastonia Fire Dept. and no injuries were suffered.
“Additionally, there was no damage to production equipment, building, or other infrastructure. Normal operations are proceeding at the facility,” Giroux said.
Fire officials told WBTV they believe the fire started when a spark from a welder’s torch was sucked into the ventilation system.
