AMAC Logistics adopts MacroPoint management software

July 27, 2015

MacroPoint announced that transportation services provider AMAC Logistics has enabled its solution in conjunction with transportation management software from Aljex, a MacroPoint integration partner.

“One of the main reasons we chose Aljex was its integration with MacroPoint,” said Doug Hazen of AMAC Logistics. “The integration updates our TMS with GPS locations as well as provides a map with a breadcrumb trail. It is the most powerful tracking technology we have seen. It also allows us to roll out new services to our customers and keeps us competitive in the marketplace.”

“We liked the fact that the driver has to accept MacroPoint only once as opposed to every transaction,” Hazen added. “We utilize many carriers and their drivers on a recurring basis, so once a driver has accepted MacroPoint all future moves can be tracked with a click of a button. We also have our largest carrier accepting MacroPoint on their on-board ELDs. That carrier handles loads for our largest customer at the current time and for them we just plug in the truck number and it tracks automatically.”

Mike Roberts of Logix Transport Solutions, a Memphis-based exclusive agent for AMAC Logistics, noted that MacroPoint load tracking capability is critical for some of the customers that broker freight through AMAC, including those that have high value loads and others that need to schedule technicians for installations when loads arrive.  Currently, the company is tracking about 200 loads per quarter with MacroPoint after enabling the integrated solution in March of 2015.

“The ability to track a load from pick up to delivery is a benefit and a service we can sell,” Roberts said. “MacroPoint was one of the reasons AMAC Logistics chose to switch its TMS to Aljex. For us, it also eliminated the need to have someone make checks calls and manually produce location reports. We had considered hiring someone to do this work but with MacroPoint that’s about $50,000 a year we don’t have to spend on an additional employee.”

Used with a driver’s mobile phone, including flip phones, or existing in-cab ELD/GPS devices, MacroPoint’s location tracking software gives third parties load status and location visibility on their shipments, the company said. With MacroPoint, brokers, 3PLs and shippers have real-time location tracking, on-time delivery monitoring, and arrival and departure notifications that enhance the efficiency and profitability of their operations.

“By integrating with our MacroPoint freight tracking software, Aljex is seamlessly providing visibility into the location of freight for AMAC Logistics,” said Glynn Spangenberg, senior vice president/general manager of MacroPoint. “We designed our load tracking software to integrate with the TMS solutions that brokers can use to manage operations and we’re pleased that we can work with Aljex to meet the needs of AMAC Logistics and its other customers.”
