Transportation technology integrator Motorcity Systems has a new partnership with IoT technology provider Orbcomm to enhance the deployment and utilization of Orbcomm’s truck and trailer telematics solutions.
Motorcity was selected for its cloud-based middleware platform, Torque integration network, which connects with multiple transportation management systems used by fleets. The partnership will help motor carriers access in-cab and equipment information directly within their native operating systems via Orbcomm’s smart truck and trailer solutions to improve dispatch-driver messaging, workflows, safety monitoring, and more, according to a press release from the companies.

“We are thrilled to partner with Orbcomm, one of the largest providers of truck and trailer IoT telematics, to deliver data integrations through our Torque platform,” said Bob Stemple, co-founder and president of Motorcity Systems. “Our partnership with Orbcomm furthers our mission to provide transportation companies and their partners with a rich and seamless network of integrated solutions.”
The cloud-based Torque platform allows fleets to select the telematics and workflow data they want to sync to their systems, better adapt to changing technology requirements, and automate current and future back-office and mobile processes, according to the release.
“By partnering with Motorcity Systems, we have gained new, advanced integration capabilities that improve the functionality and features of our smart truck and trailer solutions. As a result, we can provide our customers with more in-depth, nose-to-tail telematics insights, improving visibility to their fleet operations,” said Gregg Plonisch, Orbcomm SVP.
