PeopleNet has announced the next generation of its Blu in-cab computing system. The Blu.2 is a more efficient version of the onboard computing system and is 65% lighter as well as thinner. And it delivers 40% faster starttup in cold weather.
According to CEO Ron Konezny, who made the announcement during the PeopleNet Canada Transportation Symposium, said the new model uses the same platform as the existing Blu, so customers will be able to add Blu.2 to their current network. There is no reprogramming necessary, he said, because the software between the two units is nearly identical.
Existing Driver Terminal customers can upgrade to the Blu.2 device while using their existing onboard computing and mounting options.
The Windows-based Blu.2 offers eDriver Logs in a grid display to provide full details of a driver’s time. It also provides electronic forms that will help eliminate re-entry of information from customer’s proprietary computer systems. There is also a text-to-speech feature that allows drivers to play an audio version of a message on screen.
