TMW buys IDSC

ORLANDO. Continuing a policy of acquiring complementary software companies, TMW Software has announced its purchase of Integrated Support Decision Corp. (IDSC), a developer of fuel optimization and freight matching systems. Both TMW and IDSC are privately held, and terms of the acquisition were not made public.

Earlier this year, TMW acquired the maintenance software company TMT Software of Durham, N.C., and in 2006 it purchased Maddocks Systems of Vancouver, developer of the TruckMate fleet management system. In both cases, TMW left the founding management and development teams in place, and promised continued support for all products.

IDSC will remain in its Richardson, TX, location. Rick Murphy, the founder and CEO of IDSC, will continue to be involved with product and market strategy, and Ben Murphy, former president and COO, will become vp and general manager, optimization solutions under the new ownership, according to Dave Wangler, president and CEO of TMW. All current IDSC products will continue to be developed, marketed and supported, Wangler said at a press conference called to announce the acquisition during the company’s user group meeting here today.

IDSC’s products fall into two general categories – fuel optimization and freight management. It currently has 145 fleets using client/server products such as Netwise and Match Advice and another 800 accessing web-based tools that include TruckloadRate.com and FuelAdvice.com.

Pointing to TMW’s commitment to continue developing its acquired systems, the company also introduced its user group to the release of TruckMate 8.0. A major new release, according to Wangler, it incorporates over 4,000 enhancements, including a new user interface, simplified report access and support for other TMW offerings such as TMW Imaging and Driver’s Seat.

With the IDSC acquisition, TMW now has over 1,650 customers, 345 employees and annual revenues over $60 million, Wangler said.
