Ford upping torque of 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel

The power upgrade increases the V-8 turbodiesel’s output to 800 lb.-ft. (1,085 Nm) of torque and 400 hp, giving it an edge over General Motors’ 6.6L Duramax V-8, rated at 765 lb.-ft. (1,037 Nm) and 397 hp, Winter pointed out. He reported that “Ford’s announcement that a software upgrade makes the Power Stroke the most-powerful diesel engine ever installed in a pickup.”

Winter also noted that the winner of the Ward’s/FleetOwner “Diesel Shootout” which will be announced Sept. 20 and that during vehicle testing, editors evaluated the earlier version of the Ford Power Stroke, which produced 735 lb-ft. of torque.
