Gold Eagle Co., makers of Sta-Bil gasoline stabilizer, are now making available a diesel version, Diesel Formula Sta-Bil.

The product prevents sludge and sediment from forming in the fuel, protecting against corrosion and reducing oxidation of diesel fuel caused by thermal breakdown, according to Gold Eagle. It also contains extra lubricity and detergents to protect and clean the fuel system, the company said. A 32-ounce size will treat 320 gals. fuel.

“The reformulation of diesel fuels over the last few years has increased the need for use of diesel additives, to protect against fuel degradation, water attraction, and to help clean up the fuel system on a regular basis,” said chief innovation officer Manny Grijalva.

According to Gold Eagle, ultra low sulfur diesel and biofuels degrade at a faster pace than diesel fuel of year’s past, leading to sludge and sediment forming within the fuel tank. This can result in plugging of fuel filters, starting problems, poor engine performance and reduced engine life, the company said.
