CINCINNATI. PeopleNet chose this weeks’ National Private Truck Council Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition to announce that Frost & Sullivan has recognized PeopleNet’s Tablet with its 2011 New Product Innovation Award for revolutionizing driver efficiency and workflow management.

“We developed Tablet in response to demand for faster workflow and shorter accounting cycles with cash-flow advantages,” said PeopleNet vice president of product marketing, Matt Voda.

Frost & Sullivan praised Tablet for its ability to maximize efficiency in all aspects of fleet operations, customization, and extended fleet management solutions for higher ROI and increased driver retention. In addition to its speed and performance, they noted that Tablet provides Windows 7 support, durability and headroom for upgrade possibilities designed to increase management sophistication.

Research analyst Sathyanarayana Kabirda of Frost and Sullivan said, “PeopleNet’s Tablet has set a new benchmark in fleet management services by combining traditional fixed-mount systems with handheld computing systems. Currently, no other platform in the industry comes close to Tablet in having the most unique value-added features that help fleet owners realize quicker ROI.”

PeopleNet also chose the NPTC event to announce that the DuPont/Conoco Phillips joint venture transportation company, Sentinel Transportation LLC, is switching its 435-unit fleet to the Tablet and expanding the use of technology for safety, compliance, driver management and greater ROI.

“Sentinel first connected with us at last year’s NPTC event,” said PeopleNet’s vice president of national accounts, Mark Kessler. “The fleet began replacing onboard computers with PeopleNet in August and will be completing Tablet installations for pumping up efficiency with portability and peripherals.”

Sentinel provides transportation and logistical services exclusively for Conoco Phillips and DuPont companies in all 48 contiguous states and Canada. The fleet hauls chemicals and petroleum products, hazardous waste, crude oil and refined products. Four out of Sentinel’s 45 terminals are already 100% equipped with PeopleNet and currently running eDriver Logs, Automated Fuel Tax Reporting and Vehicle Management.

Thanks to Tablet and other factors, the year has started out very strong for PeopleNet. “Revenues are up 75% in Q1 of 2011 as compared to Q1 2010,” a company spokesperson told Fleet Owner. “About half that revenue increase is linked to [new and pending] regulations. A lot of customers who wanted to move forward earlier are now ready to pull the trigger - and there is a huge interest in Tablet.”
