North American supply chain management giant Exel has announced the complete implementation of a global transportation management technology system

North American supply chain management giant Excel has announced the complete implementation of a global transportation management technology system that will provide customers with visibility to shipments anywhere in the world.

The launch of the web-based SC3 supply chain command and control transportation system makes Excel the first third-party logistics company to use a common platform across all continents. It leverages an Oracle-based system that is configurable to local practices and standardized for global information.

With SC3, Excel customers can better manage their inventories, shipment lead times, delivery dates, freight costs and lane volume forecasts, the company said. Of benefit to customers using multiple motor carriers is a feature that allows them to view the progress of all their transportation partners on a single screen. SC3 also alerts users to disruptions in the supply chain.

“As the new standard for Excel Transportation Management customers, SC3 offers unparalleled visibility to inventory-in-motion regardless of where it is in the world and which carrier is moving the freight,” said Mike Clark, Excel’s vp-transportation. Excel is a wholly owned entity of Deutsche Post World Net.
