Rostra Precisions Controls, Inc., part of Aftermarket Controls Corp., and Netherlands-based Mobileye Inc. recently announced a distribution agreement between the companies to provide the automotive aftermarket with vision-based driver assistance systems.
According to the partners, the alliance will provide Rostra customers with immediate access to Mobileye’s entire line of Advanced Warning System (AWS) products, including Mobileye’s Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Headway Monitoring (HMW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems, designed to help alert drivers to potentially life-threatening situations.
In addition, the agreement gives Mobileye access to Rostra’s port-installed accessory capabilities, including its Cruise Control systems, “Rear Sight” Camera/Mirror units, “ConVerse” hands-free BlueTooth kits, “Park Pilot” Obstacle Sensing, Comfort Seat Heaters and Lumbar Supports.

Mobileye, Inc. CEO Skip Kinford noted that the newly formed alliance “is especially significant for us, given Rostra’s far-reaching, multi-channel approach to this market sector. It marks the latest in a series of agreements that allow Mobileye to grow through alliances with marketers and suppliers who have established leadership positions in their respective industries.”
Mobileye recently introduced a new driver-safety system developed specifically for passenger and fleet vehicles called the C2-170, which provides drivers with warnings against collision with a vehicle ahead, unintended lane-departure and failure to maintain an adequate following distance. The single camera-based safety solution recently received the United Kingdom’s Fleet Safety Forum Award for Excellence 2009, sponsored by Brake - Road Safety Charity - in the Fleet Safety Product category.
