Motor carrier Estes Express Lines is planning to install the full electronic stability program (ESP) from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC on its fleet of 1,200 tractors. “Safety is our highest priority at Estes and the Bendix ESP system provides our vehicles with added roll and directional stability in severe weather and driving conditions,” said Mike Palmer, Estes vp of fleet services.

Founded in 1931 and based in Richmond, VA, Estes provides less-than-truckload, truckload and other freight transportation services. The company said it plans to install ESP on its entire tractor fleet over a three-year period – adding the system to the Bendix air disc brakes it already specs .

“Fleets continue to recognize the benefits of utilizing full-stability technology to help mitigate rollover and loss-of-control accidents, help improve driver safety, as well as protect fleet and driver safety records – especially with the advent of [the federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s] new Compliance Safety Accountability (CSA) program,” said Fred Andersky, Bendix director of marketing-controls.

“We are pleased to extend our previous relationship with Estes with ESP to help improve the safety of their fleet,” he said.
