An outbound and backhaul management system for grocery and other private fleets will integrate real-time information from Qualcomm’s onboard wireless systems, automating a number of functions and improving fleet utilization, according to Qualcomm Enterprise Systems (QES).

Integration of Qualcomm’s onboard data with the CAMS Software Corp. management system is intended to help private fleets better allocate equipment assets and driver labor, increase backhaul opportunities and simplify management of driver activity-based pay.

“Real-time integration helps to better allocate resources and manage driver labor, which results in reduction of overtime and improved service levels to customers,” said Brian Taylor, president of CAMS Software Corporation.

The integrated workflow information from vehicles will also allow fleet managers to track delivery and recovery of reusable items, such as totes and pallets, by store location as well as automate functions, such as load assignments, event triggers and work process forms, helping to lower operational costs, reduce errors made by manual entry and improve on-time fulfillment across entire fleets, according to

“Integrating information from Qualcomm Transportation Services with CAMS’ dispatch, payroll, reporting and backhaul optimization systems is an important step in serving private fleets,” said Norm Ellis, vp of sales, services & marketing of Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “This kind of seamless integration, which delivers actionable information in a timely manner, signals new possibilities for private fleets as it enables customers to compound the value of their technology investments.”
