Having expanded its paging and two-way radio operations with a trailer- and mobile-asset tracking service, Teletouch Communications of Tyler, TX, has created a new subsidiary to continue development of the tracking product and other telematic services. The new subsidiary, called Visao Systems Inc., now has responsibility for both development and marketing of the asset tracking system.

The trailer system is self-contained and battery powered, relaying GPS location information to fleet users over a Web-based interface. It can be programmed to report positions on a scheduled basis or when it detects events such as motion or a door opening.

“As a separate subsidiary, Visao will have the available resources, separate staff, policies and procedures necessary for it to become a leader in telemetry,” says Kernan Crotty, CEO of Teletouch. The wholly owned subsidiary will also be headquartered in Tyler.
