Advantech has released its latest generation vehicle-mounted computers—the TREK-775 and TREK-776. According to the company, the computers offer a powerful wireless data link for trucks, forklifts and container crane operations that enable secure wireless connectivity for supply chain management data processing and for logistics management, warehouse inventory control, distribution accounting, ports and yard freight management.
TREK-775 and TREK-776 feature an Intel LV Pentium M 1.1 GHz or ULV Celeron M 600 MHz processor. They also offer a selection of Microsoft Windows XP Embedded, XP and Windows Embedded CE 5.0 operating systems that allow for complete PC functionality.
Both units, Advantech reported, have touch-screen capabilities and colorful graphics, making them extremely user-friendly. A key feature of TREK-776 is its high-resolution 12.1-in. XGA (1024 x 768) screen. It is able to support leading warehouse management applications without additional adaptors to support the interface. TREK-775 comes with a 10.4-in. SVGA display readable in all lighting conditions. A daylight readable display is also available for viewing in direct sunlight.
The wireless units are designed to be vibration- and shock-resistant and to work well in all types of environments. To operate seamlessly through the "cold crank" ignition period of vehicle startup, Advantech noted, the new TREK series is also built to tolerate a wide input-voltage range, from 6V to 48V, helping to avoid unwanted system resets, surges and failures.
