Combining Java-enabled cell phones or PDA's, a portable bar code scanner and a hosted management application, AirClic Time Management offers field-service fleets a paperless remote time-keeping and payroll system that also provides project management tools.

The new system uses a Motorola AC25 bar code scanning device to allow mobile workers to quickly capture time, location, project status and assignment data. The data is then transferred wireless via a cell phone, PDA or Blackberry handheld device to AirClic servers.

The company's new time and labor management application uses the collected data to prepare payrolls while also providing real-time visibility of all field activities. It can also be exported to existing back-end systems such as a general ledger system, according to AirClic.

The company says the new field-service system can be deployed in as little as two weeks. Costs range from$30 to $50 per user, with an annual fee starting at $3,000, according to AirClic.
