Transplace names COO

Transplace, Inc. has named Robert Brescia executive vp and chief operations officer (COO). Brescia comes to Transplace from Volkswagen of America, where he was chief logistics officer.

Transplace, Inc. has named Robert Brescia executive vp and chief operations officer (COO). Brescia comes to Transplace from Volkswagen of America, where he was chief logistics officer.

Brescia, who has over 30 years of experience in logistics and operations, managed import and distribution of finished vehicles and profit and loss (P&L) responsibility for after-market service parts operations for Volkswagen. He previously was vp of logistics for Michelin North America and held executive positions at Exel Logistics and in the United States Army.

“His broad shipper, logistics service provider, automotive and military background, including his domestic and international expertise coupled with his innovative and forward-thinking approach to operations management make him an asset to our company,” said Tom Sanderson, president and CEO of Transplace.

Transplace also has announced the launch of a new Mexican subsidiary, Transplace Mexico, helping customers efficiently conduct business in the area by avoiding border issues by tying motor carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and truck crossing & drayage agents together to get clear visibility of the full transportation process, the company said.

Transplace Mexico will be co-managed by Troy Ryley and Jose Minarro, who combined have over 30 years of third party logistics management experience in Mexico.

According to the company, Transplace Mexico will offer transportation management systems, freight brokerage, U.S. customs brokerage, Mexican customs brokerage, border processing, warehousing and distribution, ocean forwarding and NVOCC (OTI) services, and airfreight services.
