SkyBitz has announced its GLS 210 trailer tracking system hardware has received Underwriters Laboratories (UL) “913 Intrinsically Safe Apparatus and Associated Apparatus Compliance” status.

The UL 913 designation covers electronic hardware used around ignitable concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or liquids, making the GLS 210 system suitable for hazardous materials haulers looking to track their trailers, rail cars and barges.

“This qualification … means our customers can use the SkyBitz hardware to track even the most flammable hazmat shipments,” said Roni Taylor, the company’s executive vp. The system already holds Dept. of Defense Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) certification for transporting munitions.
