The Yard Hound Reefer, from Pinc Solutions, is a new reporting system allows the constant monitoring of refrigerated trailers inside a fleet’s yard without performing manual checks.

Pinc said the system monitors remotely the current temperature and fuel levels of refrigerated trailers. Yard Hound uses passive RFID and IEEE 802.15.4-standard based mesh networking technology to transmit information from the trailers to a database in real time.

The Pinc Reefer Tag can be permanently or temporarily mounted and includes low-power circuitry to monitor temperature, fuel level and the status of the attached trailer refrigeration unit.

Alerts notify personnel of problems, the company noted, and trailer temperature history and preventive maintenance information is also available.
