Designed to withstand in-cab truck environments and powered by the company’s well-know truck routing engine, three new PC*Miler Navigator GPS models from ALK Technologies offer spoken dock-to-dock directions and other features specifically created for commercial truck drivers, according to the company.
The PC*Miler Navigator 440, 540 and 740 run on ALK’s Windows Mobile CoPilot software, which was released this summer, and include the company’s latest commercial truck routing map data, PC* Miler 23. They can generate truck-specific spoken street-level directions within seconds, according to the company.
The new models allow drivers to enter custom truck profiles that will build those routes based on specific criteria such as the vehicle’s height or length, or cargo characteristics, automatically warning drivers when they approach relevant truck restrictions or prohibitions. They also automatically calculate alternative routes around the problem road segments.
The map data comes preloaded on a 2GB memory card for easy updating in future, and includes the full range of PC*Miler features.
The major difference between the three models is touch screen size: the 740 has a 7-in. high-definition display; the 540 a 5-in. display, and the 440 a 4.3-in. display.
Owners of the original PC*Miler Navigator 430 model can update both application and map data with a new memory card now available from ALK.
