Xata Corp. (NASDAQ:XATA) is making its RouteTracker fleet performance management system available via Verizon Wireless, allowing trucking firms that use Verizon’s network to streamline business processes with simplified billing as Xata subscription fees can now be added directly to their wireless bills.
“Enterprises across the board are looking to streamline fleet operations, both in the truck and in the office, to reduce costs and increase efficiency,” noted Benigno Gonzalez, vice president-sales operations for Verizon Wireless. “Xata’s system provides our enterprise customers with a fleet performance management tool that optimizes operations plus the benefit of a single bill.”
Xata said its RouteTracker device, from its Xata Turnpike division, transmits global positioning system (GPS) and other vehicle data to a wireless phone and sends the data back to a hosted website. With this new upgrade, Verizon Wireless customers can easily access RouteTracker on their handsets for a variety of applications, such as hours-of-service (HOS) tracking and logging.
“In today's economic environment, efficiency is everything,” said Brendan Staub, senior vice president-sales for Xata Turnpike. “Verizon Wireless customers can now take advantage of Xata Turnpike's low-cost solution to improve fleet operations and remain HOS compliant, all without adding an additional step to their accounting processes.”
