OmiSource, one of the country's largest scrap metal processors, is equipping 9,000 roll-off containers and trailers with the AirClic MP tracking system. The system uses standard Nextel mobile phones equipped with scanners to read bar codes on each trailer or container. Information captured by the system includes trailer ID number, customer, employee making the pickup, date and time, and GPS location. www.airclic.com

Fastener distributor Fastenal Co. is equipping its drivers with wireless handheld computers and Agentek's Agent Fleet to provide real-time data management for its service chain. Using the system, drivers will be able to access detailed stop information and report sales activity. The system will also allow Fastenal to provide electronic delivery receipts, adjust inventory items, track trailer drop off and pick up, and generate route summary reports. www.agentek.com

River Valley Express of Russellville, AR, and 14 other fleets have signed contracts for the MobileMax wireless communication and management system from GeoLogic Solutions. The system offers mobile communications and tracking over both land- and satellite-based networks. KonaWare Inc., the developer of mobile freight and workforce applications, has acquired Biggs Information Technology Services (BITS). Renamed KonaWare Supply Chain Solutions, BITS is a provider of custom information technology for the enterprise supply chain and logistics operations. It will be located in Harrison, AR, under the direction of Jeff Amerine, vp and gm of logistics and transportation for KonaWare. www.konaware.com

The ServiceMaster Co., number 6 on Fleet Owner's Top 500 Private Fleets list, has begun equipping its trucks with the @Road mobile resource management system. The company will start installing the wireless units in its Terminix business unit, which has about 6,000 field personnel. The system provides location and data communications for mobile units, as well as a full suite of web-based fleet management tools. www.road.com
