Magellan Ingenierie has released version 4 of its TourSolver route optimization solution. The latest update provides increased capabilities, faster processing that will help end-users reduce logistical costs and operate more efficiently overall, the company said.

The version includes a new activity-based approach that can manage long site visits spanning several days. It also automatically incorporates overnight stays away from home based on the distance of the work sites. This feature is suited to maintenance, service and after-sales service staff, Magellan Ingenierie said.

Other enhancements include a “delivery pick-up” feature for managing delivery and collection activities along the same route, and “multiple depot management” that distinguishes between a company address, the sites of its warehouses, and possibly even the home addresses of the drivers, the company said. Its updates route calculation engine allows the possibility to optimize routes over larger areas, covering North America.
