Intelligent Mechatronic Systems Inc. (IMS) is now marketing its DriveSync GPS vehicle tracking system to both the consumer and commercial fleet markets. The system uses a GPS receiver to determine vehicle operational information and stores the data on a USB data key for download once the vehicle returns to a terminal. Because the information is tracked off-line, DriveSync eliminates monthly service fees for wireless access to tracking information, according to the company.
Once information is downloaded from the USB key to a PC, it can be sent via Internet service to a DriveSync server for generation of customized reports. These reports, including trip logs, route maps and usage alerts, can then be viewed by fleet managers via a secure, password-protected website, the company says.
