KISSIMMEE, FL. Sylectus has reached agreement with MacroPoint to offer a new “intuitive  fleet tracking solution” to trucking companies.

The announcement was made at the Sylectus 2012 Annual  Conference. MacroPoint is a provider of mobile fleet management technology.  Sylectus is a business unit of Qualcomm  Enterprise Services,

According to Sylectus, the solution  will allow fleet owners, managers, freight brokers, carriers and third-party  logistics providers to easily track the location of their loads and drivers,  without any long-term contracts or new hardware requirements.

“MacroPoint offers our company an easy-to-use, highly  accurate and financially smart tracking system. This program greatly reduces  the time it takes to track our drivers and loads, allowing us to be more  efficient and responsive to the needs of our customers,” said Anna M. Hanna,  president of Whirlwind Express.

By using MacroPoint, cell phones can be used as fleet  tracking devices for company drivers as well as third-party drivers, Sylectus  said. The solution allows for location tracking of every truck, driver checks  without the need to call each driver, and automated location updates and maps  of vehicle locations for enhanced fleet tracking.

The solution also offers a “pay-for-play” model that allows  fleets to add location tracking to any existing Transportation Management  Software (TMS) without additional hardware requirements, long-term contracts or  set-up fees.

“Sylectus is always looking for opportunities to collaborate  with other leading transportation technology providers in order to bring  increased value to our customers,” said Stuart Sutton, senior director at  Qualcomm Enterprise Services and general manager of Sylectus. “The integration of  MacroPoint software into Sylectus’ TMS is a prime example of this commitment  that leverages synergies across two leading transportation technologies. As a  result, our customers now have access to a turnkey, intuitive and affordable  fleet management system, enabling them to increase the efficiency and  profitability of their operations.”
