Refuse conglomerate Waste Management (WM) wrapped up a 5-year contract to deploy the DriveCam in-cab video-based driver management system; an installation effort that follows a 6-month pilot test of the technology by the garbage collection giant.
“DriveCam delivered clear benefits in the pilots that we believe will help enable strategic differentiation in the market and reduce our risk related costs,” said Jim Trevathan, WM’s COO, in a statement. “Consequently, we’re making it a top priority among our operational initiatives.”
DriveCam said its technology enhances fleet operational safety by combining data and video analytics with real-time driver feedback and coaching, resulting in reductions in cost and fuel consumption – using a patented, iterative process of scoring, prioritizing and tracking the results of driving behaviors.
In-cab video captures driving behavior, which is objectively reviewed and scored, then passed on to the fleet for use in coaching drivers, the company added.
