To help fleets maintain compliance with FMCSA regulations while also speeding and simplifying driver logs and driver vehicle inspection reporting (DVIR), Navman Wirelessis developing new add-on applications, to be available early next year.
The applications, achieved through integration with eFleetSuite from Innovative Software Engineering (ISE), will allow fleet managers who use the Navman Wireless OnlineAVL2 fleet tracking systemto easily use paperless driver logs and DVIRs.
When the joint deployment goes live, eFleetSuite will be displayed on Navman Wireless M-Nav in-cab touchscreen navigation/messaging terminals, Navman said. Instant driver access and roadside inspection information will be available through any Internet browser for office use. eFleetSuite has been customized to seamlessly integrate with the workflow of the OnlineAVL2 system.

Driver’s will be able to utilize ISE’s electronic driver logs to automate hours-of-service (HOS) reporting. Drivers can also sign on through their M-Nav unit using their existing driver IDs. The application will automatically record HOS status information based on detection of vehicle motion, as well as capture vehicle location and miles driven and calculate remaining driver availability.
A log history for roadside inspectors will be available with just a tap on the M-Nav screen. Dispatchers can view driver logs, including violations, driver time, mileage summaries and driver availability, through an ISE link in OnlineAVL2.
The DVIR application will electronically record the results of pre- and post-trip inspections and prompt drivers to review the previous inspection when they log on to the M-Nav. It will also allow drivers to report needed repairs and deficiencies, enable customization of parts lists and common defects to speed driver documentation, display reports for roadside inspectors, and allow maintenance technicians to review reports, enter notes, and certify that repairs have been made through an ISE link inOnlineAVL2.
