New Mexico adopts Drivewyze bypass service

Dec. 19, 2012

New Mexico is now using Drivewyze PreClear at weigh stations and mobile inspection sites at 35 locations in the states. Drivewyze PreClear leverages cellular networks and the Internet to enable tablets, smartphones, and select electronic onboard recorders (EOBRs) with transponder-like functionality, the company said.

New Mexico is the 14th state to adopt the technology.

“We are excited to be working with Drivewyze and adopting this new technology,” said Major Ron Cordova of the New Mexico Dept. of Public Safety Motor Transportation Police. “Drivewyze meets New Mexico’s mission to promote safety on our highways while providing the means for the legal operation of commercial motor vehicles. Legal bypasses help us focus on identifying high-risk vehicles that need to be inspected.”

New Mexico has 412 state roads, totaling 7,405 mi. that join the 33 counties of the state. Drivewyze PreClear is now active at weigh stations and inspection sites on all major routes throughout the state.

The service is being offered to drivers and fleets in New Mexico at $12.99 per month for unlimited interstate coverage.

“We are proud to have the Drivewyze PreClear bypass service adopted by the state of New Mexico,” said Brian Heath, president of Drivewyze Inc. “New Mexico demonstrates the growth of Drivewyze across the nation with over 160 sites now offering a safe, easy, and affordable way to provide bypass privileges to as many commercial fleets as possible.”
