GammaTech Computer Corp. has released a new semi-rugged mobile tablet PC that meets Military Standard 810G and IP43 standard for drop, shock, dust and water resistance.

The Durabook model CA10 is equipped with a 10.1 in. TFT LCD display with resistive multi-touch screen and features hot swappable dual-battery design with up to eight hours of power.

“Access to a computer away from an office setting is very important in today’s world,” said Jen Chen, GammaTech president. “The CA10 will benefit many different mobile-oriented service industries, including retail, logistics, healthcare and especially field service workers in the utilities, fleet management, and public safety sectors. Its durability, long battery life, various wireless connections, and dust and spray resistance capabilities make it especially suitable for these ultra-mobile individuals, who often find themselves in harsh environments.”

The Durabook CA10 has wireless connectivity and special features for field service applications. The unit supports a variety of wireless communications such as Intel Wi-Fi Link 135 and Bluetooth 4.0 as well as offering optional Mini PCI-E for WWAN/GPS (3G or LTE module) and RFID/NFC module. The device supports a digitizer for turning analog touch inputs into digital inputs.

Among the tablet’s quick menu capabilities are on/off switches for its RF device, barcode scanner, and RFID/NFC; volume and brightness adjustment; on-screen keyboard, and others. The CA10 also includes a Smart card reader, pin pad device, and a magnetic swipe reader for use in applications involving some type of monetary transaction.

Other features include an Intel ATOM (Cedarview-M) processor; m-SATA SSD with storage ranging from 32GB to 128GB; assorted I/O ports; and a docking station with four ports (USB, RJ-45, DC-in, and serial).
