Spireon wins a “Battle of the Platforms” at M2M Evolution conference

Feb. 1, 2013

Spireon carried the day against other competing M2M (Machine to Machine) technology providers in their category in an event called the “Battle of the Platforms” held at the annual M2M Evolution conference taking place in Miami, FL from January 29 to February 3.

There were five separate competition categories. Spireon competed in the Platform for Best Business Intelligence (BI) Controls Solutions category, which judges a company’s ability to “deliver thresholding [sic] and performance criteria in a manner that makes business decisions logical, simple and self evident as possible.”

Each participant had 15 minutes to present their platform as well as a case for how the platform addresses business challenges while reducing costs and improving efficiencies. Spireon showcased its new NSpire M2M intelligence platform, focusing on its scalability, reliability, performance and security, according to the company. Spireon currently supports 1.5 million active subscribers across multiple vertical markets and collects over 2 billion events per year.

“We felt confident going into our presentation that Spireon had a strong case for our NSpire M2M Intelligence Platform. It’s an honor to be recognized among our M2M peers as a thought-leader in the M2M evolution,”said Brad Jarvis, Spireon’s chief marketing officer. Jarvis presented Spireon’s platform along with Mike Edwards, vice president of professional services and Mike Callinan, director of software engineering.

Spireon’s presentation also highlighted the results Coca-Cola Consolidated Bottling Company (CCCBC) has generated with Spireon’s FleetLocate Trailer and Asset Intelligence solution. According to Spireon, because of its elasticity, FleetLocate, which is also powered by NSpire, is able to scale up across customers’ large and geographically disperse fleets and trailers.

Battle of the Platform winners will be featured in a video interview and article on the M2MEvolution.com website. They will also receive a press kit including announcements of the award as well as a custom plaque.

Other competition categories included:

  • Enabling Independent Applications Developer to work with M2M devices - How third parties use APIs to manage information flow and connect to the users existing systems.
  • Platform for Service Providers to support wholesale services - How the provisioning of M2M is streamlined and available for rapid deployment.
  • Platform for Enterprise Deployment - The ability to partition and deliver specific solutions where the enterprise manages independent of the location of their equipment.
  • Best Horizontal Platform - Ease of integration, acceptability across multiple vertical markets, reduced complexity, cost reduction and speed of deployment.

In a spirit of competition, Spireon also announced this week that the company will be sponsoring the JGRMX team, which competes in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series.

“Becoming a sponsor of JGRMX makes perfect sense for Spireon,” said Jarvis. “JGRMX is on the cutting edge of motorcycle racing, a fast-paced and high-energy sport that is constantly evolving and pushing the limits. We embrace and embody this caliber of competitive spirit, relentless pursuit of innovation and high level of performance in our own corporate culture and product development.”
