Free webinar to focus on connected truck technologies
June 25, 2013
The U.S. Dept. of Transportation’s Trucking Industry Mobility & Technology Coalition (TIMTC) will hold a free webinar on Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 2–3:30 p.m. EDT to discuss recent advances in truck technologies.
DOT began field-testing a technology in Ann Arbor, MI, last year that “connected” nearly 3,000 cars, trucks and buses and infrastructure with WiFi so that each could “talk” to each other in real time to help avoid crashes and improve traffic flow.
Speakers will include:
Alrik Svenson, Research Engineer / Program Manager, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
John Woodrooffe, Director, Vehicle Safety Analytics Group, University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute
Dave Kraft, Director of Industry Affairs, Omnitracs, Inc.
Participants will need access to the internet and a telephone. For free registration, please visit the TIMTC website at www.freightmobility.com or click here. An email with instructions for joining the webinar will be sent to all registrants.
TIMTC is sponsored by DOT and jointly managed by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
