MINNEAPOLIS. Mobile devices integrated with a software package specifically for the trucking industry are under development by XRS Corporation in partnership with Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC (Samsung Mobile), according to an announcement made here this morning during the annual XRS User Event (XUE). The collaboration will allow drivers to receive select Samsung Mobile devices that will come with XRS trucking intelligence available for download.
The integrated XRS/Samsung solution is expected to be available later this year. The initial offering will be over the Verizon network.
The Samsung Mobile devices will be equipped with Samsung for Enterprise (SAFE) enhanced security features configured to help ensure every user’s mobile workforce has enterprise-focused IT policy controls, mobile device management protocols, virtual private network connectivity and on-device encryption. It was developed to enhance enterprise mobile security for businesses in both regulated and non-regulated industries.

XRS has sales and distribution partnerships with numerous wireless carriers supporting the U.S. and Canadian trucking industries. The company’s mobile platform, which entered general release in March 2013, can currently operate on more than fifty different devices, according to XRS.
