“Keeping up with explosive growth requires moving data quickly, reliably and efficiently,” observed David Guthmiller, MBI integrated dispatch project manager. “PeopleNet provides immediate access to critical data on several fronts, including load data that lets us meet customer demand for immediate billing. Vehicle tracking provides customers visibility into where and when their loads have been dropped and picked up. PeopleNet has made a huge difference in how we operate. We are simply more competitive with a safer, more efficient fleet and a higher level of customer service. Integration between Crude Oil Workflow and TMWSuite dispatch has automated driver-dispatch communication and skyrocketed driver efficiency. Drivers receive and send updated load information about pickups and deliveries in real time.”

Since using MBI, Guthmiller said, drivers have come to appreciate how much easier PeopleNet makes their lives and how much it contributes to fleet safety.

In other news, PeopleNet announced that former CH Robinson executive, David Buhl, has joined the company to lead PeopleNet Energy Services. “David’s successful track record in delivering innovative solutions and organizing teams in multiple business areas across diverse industries is a tremendous asset in leading our Energy Services initiatives…noted Rick Ochsendorf, senior vice president, PeopleNet.

Last week, the company also announced that it is providing Navistar International Corp. engine diagnostic telematic information as part of an agreement that enables Navistar to create engine health reports for the vehicles it manufacturers.  Fleets can access reports and monitor active faults via a portal with any type of computing or smart device.

In a related announcement, PeopleNet also said that sister company, Vusion, can provide Navistar MPG-focused analytics using data provided by PeopleNet. Vusion’s ability to provide normalized benchmarking by accounting for driver, customer, and environmental factors like speed, RPM, ambient temperature, topography and load weight, will allow Navistar to more accurately assess MPG.

“Navistar is taking a significant, proactive step to help their customers reduce maintenance and downtime costs,” noted Brian McLaughlin, PeopleNet president.
