Detroit Diesel Corp. is offering its Detroit Connect Visibility fleet software and On-Board Tablet for mixed fleets, beginning in the first quarter of 2014.

“By expanding the availability of the On-Board Tablet and Visibility fleet software to mixed fleets, we are arming all fleet managers with powerful tools that streamline communications, benefit fuel efficiency and enhance driver productivity,” said Joe Saccio, manager, sales and marketing, Detroit Connect for Daimler Trucks North America. “With Detroit Connect, DTNA is leading the charge to develop technologies that benefit the industry.”

Visibility fleet software monitors and delivers real-time data on the entire fleet to track the status of one or all of the trucks. The software generates reports that provide detailed information on vehicle location, speed, mileage, routes, stop times, idle times and more to help managers make valuable adjustments that ultimately enhance fleet productivity.

The On-Board Tablet delivers hours-of-service logs for reporting; two-way messaging, including text to voice; advanced navigation for asset specific routing; and simplified pre- and post-trip inspection.

Developed on the Android platform, the On-Board Tablet’s includes an intuitive interface and features a colorful touch-screen display with an hours-of-service clock, and the ability to host third party apps. Purchase of the On-Board Tablet includes Visibility fleet software.

Detroit also announced that its Detroit Connect solution will be offered on Freightliner Cascadia truck models with Cummins engines.

The Connect suite of telematics solutions will be offered as a factory-installed option beginning first quarter 2014.
