Georgia adds 19 Drivewyze Weigh Station bypass locations

Aug. 11, 2014

Georgia has become the 26th state to off the Drivewyze PreClear bypass service, adding the mobile-based weigh station service at 19 locations.

Drivewyze PreClear is now available on major routes including U.S. Interstates 16, 20, 75, 85 and 95, Drivewyze said. Thirteen sites went live on July 31, with the remaining six scheduled to go live in the next few days.

“We’re pleased the Georgia Dept. of Public Safety’s Motor Carrier Compliance Division recognizes the value of using Drivewyze technology to prescreen safe commercial operators,” said Brian Heath, president of Drivewyze. “Drivewyze PreClear has become the fastest growing bypass service in the industry. It’s clear more and more safety officials and fleet and truck operators see the benefit of using cellular technology and the internet to add transponder-like functionality to electronic logging devices, smartphones and tablets.”

Unlike traditional methods that use dedicated short-range communication transponders in every truck, Drivewyze doesn’t require the installation of additional equipment.

The Drivewyze PreClear weigh station bypass application can be used on Android and iOS-based tablets or smartphones, and is integrated into PeopleNet Blu.2 and tablet devices, and the Zonar 2020. Rand McNally and Drivewyze recently announced an agreement to provide the Drivewyze PreClear weigh station bypass service for Rand McNally’s suite of mobile fleet management devices. Drivewyze PreClear 3.0, the newest version of the weigh station application, comes with Weigh Station Heads Up service for real-time notifications at more than 700 weigh stations and inspection sites nationwide.

While the Drivewyze PreClear heads-up service is free, the bypass service is subscription-based and starts at $15.75 per vehicle per month with free trial offers and volume discounts available.
