Mobile printers now support Apple AirPrint

Aug. 19, 2014

Brother Mobile Solutions (BMS) announced that its RuggedJet 4 WiFi handheld receipt and label printers now support Apple AirPrint wireless technology.

AirPrint from Apple allows users to wirelessly print from iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch devices directly to RuggedJet 4 printers. Built-in AirPrint compatibility allows instant printing from iOS devices without the need to download or install drivers or interfaces and simplifies the RuggedJet user experience, BMS said.

All existing RuggedJet 4 WiFi printers are backward compatible with AirPrint via a simple, free firmware update available from Brother.

“We are pleased to expand on our strong relationship with Apple, from incorporating AirPrint technology in laser and inkjet office printers and now to mobile printers,” said Raul G. Palacios, senior product manager. “This is a significant advancement for the mobile printing market, where so many mobile workers are equipped with iPhone and iPad today. Now they can print receipts and labels quickly, right out-of-the-box, from their Apple iOS device and directly to the mobile printer.”

The Brother RuggedJet 4 printers are designed for high-speed, high-resolution thermal printing of 2-in. to 4-in. documents, labels and receipts from drop-in rolls.
