CoPilot Truck updated with new maps, interface

Oct. 30, 2014

The CoPilot Truck navigation app from ALK has been updated with new maps and a restyled user interface. Version 9.2 also includes navigation updates specific to commercial trucks, including height restrictions, hazardous materials restrictions, truck-related points of interest (POIs), state mileage calculators and more.

“There is a fundamental difference in the GPS navigation needs of the truck driver as compared to the average commuter or traveler,” said David Quin, vice president of consumer applications at ALK. “CoPilot Truck addresses these differences by providing professional drivers optimal routes that can reduce costly out-of-route mileage, enable improved driver safety and assist in avoiding costly vehicle damage by calculating routes based on the size of vehicle driven and load carried.”

CoPilot Truck v9.6.2 also seamlessly integrates with the Drivewyze PreClear mobile-based weigh station bypass app, available separately from Drivewyze, to help drivers save time and money by bypassing weigh stations while following CoPilot Truck guidance.

Also included is CoPilot Truck’s new ActiveRoutes feature that calculates routes using average road speeds at that exact time of day and day of the week they are scheduled to travel for precise routing.

Additional features include:

  • iOS 8 optimization
  • Improved graphics for iPhone 6
  • Reduced battery consumption
  • Automatic cloud backup of recent places, favorites and subscriptions
  • Drag-and-drop trip editing to easily reorganize stops along your route
  • Connection settings with offline mode to help control data costs

The update is available for free to all CoPilot Truck app users in North America and Europe.
