SkyBitz announced its Galaxy GTP4050 global asset tracking product has been certified to UL Standard 913 for “intrinsically safe apparatus for use in Class 1-3, Division 1, hazardous locations.”
“The process, which required rigorous preparation and testing, has helped SkyBitz offer its customers a much wider set of use cases for this product,” the company said. “Now with the UL 913 certification, the SkyBitz GTP4050 is the only two-way communication, GPS-satellite asset tag that is certified intrinsically safe for Europe (ATEX), International (IECEx), U.S. and Canada (UL). The SkyBitz Galaxy GTP4050 is ideal for businesses with global operations and assets in hazardous locations (HAZLOC) or haul hazardous materials (HAZMAT), providing complete visibility of their assets even in the most remote locations.”
According to the company, Cyanco has selected the SkyBitz Galaxy GTP4050 to help track their trailers used to transport their product serving the gold mining industry.
“We have various types of equipment spread throughout the globe that we need to track at all times because of the hazardous materials they hold. Safety is of utmost importance and everyone we work with has to be certified to be able to move our HAZMAT product,” Alvaro Garcia, supply chain operations coordinator, Cyanco. “SkyBitz allows us to set up landmarks and sends our team notifications of when our equipment and product have arrived at various locations for proof of delivery. SkyBitz helps us maintain complete visibility over our product, which is especially helpful if it deviates into an area where we can’t get a hold of the driver.”
“Achieving these intrinsic safety certifications means our customers with unpowered assets containing HAZMAT or moving in and around hazardous locations can focus on gaining better efficiencies in their operations and not worry about the safety, compliance or losing track of their assets,” said Henry Popplewell, president, SkyBitz. “I’m proud of our team for reaching this goal we have been all striving towards, making a best-in-class product equipped to satisfy customers with intrinsic safety concerns in the U.S. and globally.”
