ELD maker partners with independent testing firm

LAS VEGAS. New Zealand-based electronic logging device (ELD) maker EROAD noted during a press event here at the American Trucking Associations (ATA) annual conference that it is partnering with independent third party testing firm the PIT Group to provide an extra level of verification for its hours of service (HOS) solution.

“It’s always been our philosophy to do independent audits,” EROAD COO Jarred Clayton told Fleet Owner ,noting that the company's North American operations are based in Portland, OR. “There’s really been a lot of noise and hum regarding concern over ELD self-certification; what it means and how [fleets] reliably chose one [ELD] over another.”

The partnership will entail the PIT Group testing EROAD’s device against both Canadian ELD standards as well as the self-certification standards established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

“We know how much compliance matters to our customers, which is why we are following rigorous internal testing procedures and protocols for all of our [transportation] for our tax and compliance solutions,” Clayton added. “We are going one step further by adding PIT Group’s independent testing and verification to assure [motor] carriers that the ELD they have chosen is best in class and compliant.”
